Five Faves: February 2014

On February 18, 2014

It’s my birthday month which means I’m bringing you all the things I really love most…

Pendleton blanket, $149.  My favorite winter weeknight activity is swaddling myself in a warm wool blanket and cozying up on the couch.  I’m especially obsessed with Pendleton blankets.  Each pattern is more awesome than the next.

Black Label beverage from The Juice Press NYC, $9.  This, to me, is like mothers milk.  There is nothing more nourishing and comforting.  A lot of the smoothies you see, heck, even the green juices are loaded with sugar and have as many calories as a meal (not that I count calories, but you know what I’m saying).  This is really light and oh so satisfying.  If a beverage could be a happy place, this would be mine.

Babycakes: Vegan, (Mostly) Gluten-Free, and (Mostly) Sugar-Free Recipes from New York’s Most Talked-About Bakery by Erin McKenna, $24.  Last year I celebrated my Double Sweet Sixteen with a Babycakes brownie cake with mint frosting and it brought the house down.  This year I anticipate and resprise.

Grapefruit by Yoko Ono, $18. I have a thing for conceptual art and this little books reads like poetry to me.  I found it during college and consider it the first self-help book I ever read because it pushed me to see beauty in everything.

Mondrian Tumblers from the MoMA store, $12 each.  Last February I was thinking that it might be time to live on my own.  So I bought these tumblers as an (extravigent) early house warming gift to myself.  After moving in April I promptly broke 4 of the 6, but the remaining 2 make me feel like an awesome grown up who has nice design-y things.
