Permission from a Health Coach

On January 12, 2016

Are you one of those people that hates being told what to do?  Like, if you’re told not to do something it’s only going to make you want to do it more and you’ll simultaneously get mega-peeved at the person for trying to put limitations on you? Because, uch!

If so, we’re two of a kind.

As a Health Coach, I feel like I’m supposed to post regular lists of stuff like the “the 5 foods that will get rid of armpit fat” or “how to quit sugar forever”.  But, barf, that’s all so disingenuous.

In my opinion, the only reason to eat well is to feel good.  Not with the secret hope that your body will magically morph into [insert celebrity's name here].

I could easily tell you what you “should” do to “feel great & lose weight”, but for real, you already know what’s best for you.

You do.

We all know.

And sometimes it’s just really damn fun to be defiant.

People-Breaking-Rules-17

In the new year, instead of giving you a list of what you should be eating/doing, I thought it would be a way better gift to give you permission to do whatever you want.

So here I am, your health coach, taking a stand against all the other health coaches out there with their perfectly colorful smoothie bowls and green juice holding selfies after yoga class, to tell you that no matter what dietary choices you make, you’re going to be okay.  You know what.  You’re more than okay.  You’re fucking amazing.

With the power vested in me as a health coach, I hereby give you permission to:

  • Get fries with that.
  • Eat all the cake and ice cream just because.
  • Stop taking your supplements.
  • Go a week without working out.
  • Drink a little too much.
  • Eat until you’re stuffed.
  • Order takeout.  Again.

You can do all of these, any day of the week/year, and you know what?  You’re still totally fucking lovable.  What you eat or do for exercise has no bearing on who you are as a human.

The most fundamentally important thing in a healthy life is happiness.  So chase that.  Not thigh gap.

What else do you need permission to do?  Let me know in the comments and I’ll give it to you.

Happy New Year!

With nothing but love,
Quinn
